Consultations on Close to Home: A Vision for Long-Term Care and Community Support Services

About the Long-Term Care and Community Support Services System

The Long-Term Care and Community Support Services (LTC CSS) system in Newfoundland and Labrador offers a wide range of supportive services and programs that provide individuals with the opportunity to live as independently as possible within the services provided. LTC CSS are focused on helping people to access the supports they need to overcome barriers, enhance their independence and quality of life.

Why Public Consultations?

The Department of Health and Community Services will be developing a Long-Term Care and Community Support Services strategy. As part of the development, public consultations will be held across the province. These consultations will give the public and stakeholder groups an opportunity to discuss the services offered in the LTC CSS system. The input from these consultations is important to ensure any changes that are made in the system reflect the needs, priorities and values of the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Close to Home: A Vision for Long-Term Care and Community Support Services: Consultation Document

The consultation document PDF File is intended to encourage discussion regarding the actions that must be taken to improve the LTC CSS system and prepare for the future. It provides an overview of supports and services available and outlines a proposed vision for an improved LTC CSS system as well as a potential service delivery model that will guide future program development.

How to Participate

The Provincial Government welcomes and encourages your participation in these consultations. Your thoughts and views are important to us and input received will be critical in helping the Department of Health and Community Services develop future directions in the Long-Term Care and Community Support Services system.

Individuals wishing to make a presentation during the consultation sessions are asked to pre-register by email or by phone, as listed below, at least 48 hours prior to the consultation session they wish to attend. In order to accommodate all presenters, presentations should not exceed ten minutes.
