Mental Health and Addictions Division
Mandate:
The Mental Health and Addictions Division is responsible for providing provincial leadership in the planning and development of mental health and addictions programs within the four regional health authorities (RHAs)
Functions:
- To provide advisory and consulting services in support of mental health and addictions services operated by the four RHAs;
- To develop an operational plan to support the provincial framework on mental health and addictions services;
- To implement, in collaboration with the RHAs, the recommendations of the Oxycontin Task Force;
- To provide input into major mental health and addictions initiatives at the federal/provincial/territorial levels;
- To respond to inquiries from clients, families, general public and elected officials on mental health and addictions services provided by the RHAs;
- To liaise with community metal health organizations on matters of mutual interest;
- To identify funding priorities for mental health and addictions services and to allocate financial resources on an annual basis;
- To develop and monitor operational standards that are consistent with best practices in mental health and addictions;
- To develop, implement and monitor the new mental health legislation in partnership with the Policy and Planning Branch, Department of Justice and Regional Health Authorities;
