Ageless, a campaign launched by the Provincial Government, promotes positive images of aging and recognizes the contribution of seniors in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Ageless campaign is based on the fact that ambition, involvement and participation in society can be lifelong activities. Using a series of posters, and print and radio ads, the campaign features local seniors actively engaged in their communities.
This campaign sheds light on violence against older persons and encourages residents to take action to eliminate violence in Newfoundland and Labrador. The campaign is a collaborative project through the Violence Prevention Initiative and the Provincial Healthy Aging Policy Framework.
The Seniors of Distinction Awards recognize seniors of all walks of life – seniors who are experts in their field, seniors who share their culture and talents, seniors who volunteer as coaches, organizers and fundraisers, and seniors who care for people in need of understanding and companionship. Nominees must be 50 years of age or older and be a current or past resident of Newfoundland and Labrador. Seniors will be considered for both voluntary and paid work. Posthumous awards may be given. The Seniors of Distinction Awards ceremony will take place during Seniors Month in June. Up to five Newfoundland and Labrador seniors are recognized annually.
