The Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors of Distinction Awards recognize and celebrate the contributions, achievements and diversity of seniors throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Seniors of Distinction Awards are an opportunity to recognize seniors of all walks of life – seniors who are experts in their field, seniors who share their culture and talents, seniors who volunteer as coaches, organizers and fundraisers, and seniors who care for people in need of understanding and companionship.
To be eligible for the award, a senior must be nominated by an individual or group, must be 50 years of age or older and be a current or past resident of Newfoundland and Labrador. Seniors will be considered for both voluntary and paid work, and nominations from last year will be reviewed again this year at the request of the nominee. Posthumous awards may also be given.
The Seniors of Distinction Awards ceremony will take place during Seniors Month in June. Up to seven Newfoundland and Labrador seniors are recognized annually.
The guidelines and nomination form for the 2012 Seniors of Distinction Awards are now available at the links below.
