Health and Community Services

The Mental Health and Addictions Division of the Department of Health and Community Services is responsible for providing provincial leadership in the planning and development of mental health and addictions programs within the four regional health authorities (RHAs).

The effects of addiction are broad and may affect every aspect of a person’s life, reaching families from coast to coast. That’s why an equally broad range of treatment programs across Newfoundland and Labrador is so essential.

If you are concerned about your own substance use or gambling behaviour or have been affected by someone else’s, services are available. Our approach to treatment includes a variety of programs that focus on all needs, including physical, psychological, social and spiritual. We offer detoxification services, residential and community-based services, and support for families affected by addiction.

Addiction changes everything – so can recovery. Help is closer than you think.
